The story of a place, told by those who know it best

The last century has brought about radical changes for English country estates. Though they have changed beyond recognition, the memories of these times live on in the memories of those who were there. Our House Histories are a simple way of preserving the tales from a bygone age through the people who witnessed it first hand.

We capture the spirit of a place by interviewing long-serving members of staff such as the gamekeeper, the tenant farmer, the housekeeper or the art curator. We have collected interviews with staff members at homes such as Woburn Abbey.
